Updated March 25th – 4 pm
Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing has just announced new measures to help tenants stay in their homes over the next months. If you’re a landlord, or a person concerned about paying your rent, you should read this. Hopefully, a way to apply for subsidies will become clear well before April 1.
KHS understands that this is a confusing and difficult time for community members, where many aspects of our everyday lives in our beautiful Village, are changing rapidly and in unforeseen ways. As the situation around Covid-19 evolves, now more than ever, we continue to strive toward meeting our mandate to ensure safe, affordable housing remains front and center priority in our community. To this end, the KHS Board Members have resolved during our Monday, March 23rd, Online Board Meeting, to pursue all avenues and information available to us from the Government and Social Assistance Ministries and Organizations to stay on top of changing rules and new developments and supports. The Board will meet again in approximately two week’s time, armed with the resources and information we have been able to gather, and will formulate a structured plan on how we can best help our community members with their housing needs during this evolving situation.
At this time, we’d like to point you towards these government resources, which will address your most urgent general and housing related questions, and provide updated information about new supports being put into place.
Please adhere to government guidance.
Best Wishes and Stay Well!
